Open Access is the practice of providing online access to scientific information (articles, monographs, research data and other research outputs) that is free of charge to reader, and licensed so that they can be further used and exploited by researchers, the industry and citizens.

Milestone definitions of Open Access include those of the Budapest Open Access Initative (BOAI) and the Berlin Declaration (October 2003) on Open Access.
OA repositories

OpenDOAR is an authoritative directory of academic open access repositories.

EMU DSpace, the digital archive of Estonian University of Life Sciences has also joined the catalog since 2017.
OA journals and books

DOAJ is an online directory that indexes and provides access to high quality,
open access, peer-reviewed journals.

DOAB is an online directory that provides access to academic peer-reviewed books and chapters from 195 publishers.



OpenAIRE (Open Access Infrastructure for Research in Europe) is a collaborative European effort working towards a common goal to bring a change in realising open access for the benefit of innovation, industry and society.
