Estonian University of Life Sciences has implemented a new plagiarism detection system StrikePlagiarism, starting from February 5, 2024.

StrikePlagiarism is a plagiarism detection system that allows for checking the originality of written works. The purpose of using the system is to prevent plagiarism and raise awareness about intellectual property theft. The Estonian University of Life Sciences has acquired the right to use the plagiarism detection system through a consortium agreement funded by the Ministry of Education and Research.

• StrikePlagiarism can be used by staff of the Estonian University of Life Sciences. Students cannot use the program independently.

• StrikePlagiarism can be used on the web or in Moodle learning environments.

• To create a user account, please contact the library contact person at karmen.kalk@emu.ee. Soon, there will also be an option to log in with the Estonian University of Life Sciences account. Once the account is created, you can log in to the system HERE. You do not need to create an account to use StrikePlagiarism in Moodle.
   

StrikePlagiarism allows you to:

• Compare texts with publicly available Estonian and foreign language materials on the internet;
• Compare texts with materials in StrikePlagiarism's own database. Works uploaded to the web environment can be manually added to the comparison database or will be automatically added 30 days after uploading. If you wish to remove documents added by yourself or other University of Life Sciences members from the database, please contact karmen.kalk@emu.ee. To remove works uploaded to Moodle from the database, contact veljo.kabin@emu.ee.
• Compare texts with the plagiarism detection system Ouriginal's database of texts;
• Compare works digitally archived by higher education institutions with each other (including EMU Dspace);
• Use the Moodle environment for comparing works with the StrikePlagiarism database;
• Translate the document into the selected language and search for similarities in the selected language (for this, the document needs to be uploaded and the option "Check for similarities in translation" activated, then choose the language);
• Analyze and interpret the results of the similarity report by the University of Life Sciences employees.
