Books are an integral part of education, including agricultural education.

 

The first handbook of agriculture in Estonian Teadus ja Seadus põllul was written by Carl Robert Jakobson and was published in 1869.

 

C.R. Jakobson (1841-1882) was an Estonian writer, politician and teacher; one of the most important persons of the Estonian national awakening in the second half of the 19th century.

 

C.R. Jakobson: „We have published this book with the desire to help take our people so far: Think before you act. In our opinion, this should be the first command of every farmer.“

 

The first journal of agriculture in Estonian Eesti Põllomees kõige eesti põllomeestele was also published in year 1869.

 

In our library you can get acquainted with the Estonian agricultural literature published at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century.
