Borrowing and returns

Borrowing

  • Registered users can borrow books with an ID card or library card at the service desk or using the self-service borrowing machine located in the storage area.
  • The location of a book in the storage area is indicated by a call number, which can be found in the e-catalogue ESTERlink opens in new page.
  • It is possible to place a hold on books and reserve items currently on loan in the ESTER e-catalogue by clicking “Request”.
  • A reader may have up to 25 books borrowed at the same time.
  • The following items cannot be borrowed for home use: reference works, theses, publications issued before 1960, archive collection copies, newspapers, and the latest issues of journals.
  • Library users with outstanding fines cannot borrow items for home use.
  • Teaching staff may borrow books necessary for teaching for the entire semester.

Returns

Returning lent library materials is possible:

Books can be returned to the lending desk or used to return them from the self-service lending machine located in the library stack.

Returns are possible during library opening hours.

CLEVERON parcel machine is located in the foyer of the main building, level 0. 

You must ask the library for an input code by writing to [email protected]

 

Access to the CLEVERON parcel machine is possible during the library’s opening hours.

Please choose the Tartu Tuglase Rimi as the receiving parcel machine and EMU Library as the parcel recipient. For the required contact phone number please enter +372 512 7193.

 

When returning items via the Omniva parcel machine, please pack the books in a bubble wrap envelope.

For returning books, please go to any Omniva parcel machine, enter the required details, and pay the delivery fee by bank card. The parcel machine prints out the address card, attach it to the parcel, and scan the barcode. Put the parcel in the locker and touch the button „Confirm“ on the screen.

After you have returned the books to the Omniva parcel machine, it will take 3-4 days before they reach the EMU Library.
