The ISBN is a unique 13-digit identifier assigned to each specific edition of a book—similar to a personal identification number for a person. It helps publishers, libraries, and readers accurately identify the exact work and edition in question.
If the same book is published in multiple formats - such as print, e-book (PDF or ePub), or online (readable directly on the web) - each format requires its own ISBN. This is because each version is considered a separate product, potentially with a different price, distribution method, and usage environment.
ISBNs are issued for textbooks, doctoral theses, books, etc.
If you need an ISBN, please be prepared to provide the following information to the contact person Heli Viira at [email protected]:
for a doctoral thesis
for a textbook
for a conference proceedings
