ISSN for periodicals

The ISSN is an international standard number for serial publications

The ISSN (International Standard Serial Number) is a unique numerical code assigned to serial publications such as journals, yearbooks, scholarly publications, and other regularly issued publications.

Unlike the ISBN, the ISSN does not refer to a single volume or issue but to the entire publication as a whole. For example, if a journal is published quarterly, all issues of the journal share the same ISSN.

If the same journal is published in both print and online formats, each format will have its own ISSN.
